Do the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 have a microSD slot?

Many Samsung fans were worried that the company’s decision to remove expandable storage from the Galaxy S21 series foreshadowed the fate of other unreleased and — at that time — upcoming Galaxy devices such as the Galaxy A52 and the Galaxy A72. The moment of truth is finally here, as the new mid-range duo was officially unveiled mere hours ago.

So, what’s the situation with the Galaxy A52 and the Galaxy A72? Have these phones retained expandable storage from last year, or has Samsung decided to add this one extra, unwanted ‘flagship’ characteristic, i.e. the lack of expandable storage, to the new mid-range duo?

Not dependent on cloud storage yet

Fortunately for Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 enthusiasts, both of these phones have expandable storage capabilities and can read microSD cards with capacities of up to 1TB.

Of course, the cloud storage options Samsung’s promoting nowadays are still available to any Galaxy A52 / Galaxy A72 owners who might need them. But given the option, we don’t believe that cloud storage will be the first choice for the majority of users, so it’s a good thing that the microSD card option is indeed being offered along with 128GB / 256GB of on-board memory.

Will you be buying the Galaxy A52 or the Galaxy A72? If so, will you choose the variant with 128GB or 256GB of on-board storage, and how much do you still care about expandable memory? Leave a comment below and let us know.
